Common Questions
How do I scan a note?
Tap Start Your Patch on the home screen, then choose Scan Document to capture with the camera, or Choose from Library to import existing photos.
How do I make the printed patch the right size?
Use the physical-width slider in the editor to set the exact size. If the printed result is slightly off, use Calibration in Settings — print the reference line, measure it with a ruler, and enter the actual length. This is a one-time setup.
What is Smart Text?
Smart Text extracts text from images — handwritten notes, printed pages, photos, or mixed layouts. Two modes are available:
- On-device OCR: Free, works offline. Uses Apple’s Vision framework.
- AI recognition (Pro): Higher accuracy for messy handwriting, formulas, tables, and mixed content. Sends the image to a secure cloud API for processing.
Does NotePatch upload my data?
Core features (scan, crop, mask, print) are fully offline. The only time data leaves your device is when you:
- Print to a printer you select (over your local network)
- Share a PDF via the iOS share sheet
- Use AI recognition (Pro), which sends the selected image to a cloud API for text extraction — images are not stored or used for training
What is NotePatch Pro?
An optional subscription that unlocks AI-powered text recognition and future premium features. Core features remain free forever. You can manage or cancel your subscription in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
How do I restore my subscription?
Go to Settings → NotePatch Pro → Restore Purchases.
What devices does NotePatch support?
iPhone and iPad running iOS 17.6 or later.
